Junior AI Podcast Production Engineer

About the role

Podcasters spend 3 hours post-processing for every hour of content they record: editing out filler words, adding chapter markers, writing show notes, creating social media clips, submitting to directories, and building transcripts for accessibility. Most independent creators can't afford to outsource this, so they either do it themselves or burn out. We're building an AI-powered production assistant that automates the mechanical parts of the podcast workflow. The platform already handles basic transcription and noise removal. We need a junior developer to build the next layer: chapter detection from transcript content, automated show note generation, social media clip identification, and publishing workflow integrations with Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and RSS. This is a part-time freelance role, 20-25 hours per week. You'll work with our lead engineer who will guide you through the existing codebase. If you listen to podcasts and have a feeling for what makes a good episode, that context will actually help you build better features.

Responsibilities

  • Build chapter detection from transcript content and audio energy signals
  • Implement automated show note generation using LLM summarization
  • Develop social media clip identification based on highlight scoring
  • Create publishing workflow integrations with Spotify, Apple, and RSS feeds
  • Write tests for new integrations and maintain existing pipeline reliability
  • Document API integrations as third-party platforms update their schemas

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic experience with REST API integrations
  • Interest in audio content, podcasting, or media production
  • Comfort working asynchronously with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn LLM-based text generation techniques
