Junior AI Sanctions List Screening Developer

About the role

You'll be the second engineer on Felvix Tech's screening squad, a team of five that includes two compliance analysts and a product owner. Our software checks customer and supplier names against global sanctions lists for banks and logistics companies. The hard part is matching: transliterated names, aliases, company names with different legal suffixes, and lists that update daily without warning. You'll help build the ingestion jobs that pull new list versions, the fuzzy-matching service that scores candidates, and the review tools our analysts use to clear false positives. A good first role for a developer who wants real production ownership early and is curious about how AI and compliance meet.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain daily ingestion jobs for OFAC, EU, UN and UK sanctions lists
  • Improve name-matching logic for transliteration, aliases and corporate suffixes
  • Work with compliance analysts to reduce false positives without missing true hits
  • Write tests and runbooks for every list source you touch

Requirements

  • Some professional or internship experience writing Python services
  • Comfortable with SQL and REST APIs
  • Interest in text matching, entity resolution or NLP
  • Careful, detail-oriented approach; mistakes here have regulatory consequences
