Junior AI Voice Agent Dead Air Recovery Engineer

About the role

Have you ever been on a call with a voice assistant and hit that awkward silence where you're not sure if it's thinking, broken, or waiting for you to speak again? Our voice agents handle interruptions well, but dead air, moments where the conversation just stalls, still causes users to hang up early. You will help build detection logic that identifies dead air in real time and triggers a natural re-engagement prompt. You'll work under a senior conversational AI architect who will review your detection logic weekly and help you grow into a full voice engineering role.

Responsibilities

  • Help build real-time detection logic for dead air moments in voice conversations
  • Support design of natural re-engagement prompts triggered by detected dead air
  • Analyze call logs to identify common dead air patterns and causes
  • Assist with evaluation of detection accuracy against labeled call recordings
  • Document findings for the senior conversational AI team

Requirements

  • Some Python and TensorFlow experience, coursework or personal projects welcome
  • Interest in conversational AI and voice interfaces
  • Comfortable working with audio and call log data
  • Eagerness to learn from a senior team
