Junior Data Engineer (AI)

About the role

We're a 45-person company and our data infrastructure has outgrown the scripts-and-cron-jobs phase. Our ML team needs reliable, tested, documented data pipelines — and we're building the data engineering function from scratch. You'll be the second data engineer, reporting to a senior who joined 3 months ago. Your first projects will focus on migrating legacy ETL scripts into Airflow DAGs, adding data validation checks, and building monitoring dashboards. It's not glamorous work, but it's foundational — and you'll learn how to build data infrastructure the right way from day one. We hire juniors who ask good questions, write clean code, and care about getting the details right. If that's you, we'll invest heavily in your growth.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate legacy ETL scripts into structured Airflow DAGs
  • Add data validation and quality checks to existing pipelines
  • Build monitoring dashboards for pipeline health and data freshness
  • Write documentation for data models and pipeline dependencies
  • Collaborate with ML engineers on data requirements for training jobs

Requirements

  • Solid Python skills and SQL proficiency
  • Basic familiarity with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
  • Experience with pandas for data manipulation
  • Understanding of data quality concepts
  • Eagerness to learn infrastructure and DevOps practices
