About the role

We're a 6-person startup building AI tools for architects and interior designers. Our product lets users upload floor plans, photos, and sketches, then generates 3D visualizations and material suggestions using multimodal AI models. We launched our beta 3 months ago and already have 800 active users. This part-time role (25h/week) is for a junior engineer who's excited about multimodal AI and wants to learn by building. You'll work on image understanding pipelines, experiment with vision-language models, and help integrate new model capabilities into our product. Our senior AI engineer will mentor you. We work out of a small studio in LA. Being on-site lets you test features in real time with physical samples, printed floor plans, and direct feedback from our design advisor. Responsibilities

  • Assist with building image understanding pipelines for floor plans and photos
  • Experiment with vision-language models for design interpretation tasks
  • Help integrate new model outputs into the product's frontend
  • Run evaluation tests on multimodal model accuracy
  • Participate in weekly design reviews with the product team

Requirements

  • Python proficiency with basic PyTorch experience
  • Interest in computer vision and multimodal AI
  • Familiarity with Hugging Face model hub
  • Willingness to work on-site in Los Angeles (25h/week)
  • Portfolio of personal or academic AI projects preferred
