About the role
We operate a global content platform used by 20 million people across 30+ countries. Search is one of our most important product surfaces — and honestly, it's embarrassing right now.
Users type the same thing five different ways and get five completely different results. Multilingual queries are a disaster. We're still running keyword matching from 2019.
We need a senior NLP engineer to rebuild search from the ground up around modern semantic retrieval. You'll own the whole thing: embedding model selection, pipeline design, multilingual handling, and relevance measurement.
Expect to own this for 12+ months. It's not a fix — it's a rebuild.
Requirements
- – Deep experience with semantic search and embedding-based retrieval
- – Hugging Face ecosystem (sentence-transformers, tokenizers, etc.)
- – Experience with Weaviate, Pinecone, or similar vector stores
- – Has handled multilingual search before — non-Latin scripts are a real bonus
- – Cares about measuring things properly, not just shipping
