Senior AI Audio Loudness Normalization Engineer

Victoria Nakamura

Full-time · Job · London

About the role

Fast-moving team. Hard audio problem. We need someone who ships. Dravix Studio processes podcasts and audiobooks for independent creators, and platforms keep rejecting uploads that fail their loudness specs. Classic normalization flattens dynamics and makes voices sound tired. We want a learned approach that hits platform targets while keeping speech natural and music beds intact. You'll build it, measure it with listening panels and objective metrics, and ship it into a pipeline that handles 20,000 files a week. Small team, lots of autonomy, very little process.

Responsibilities

  • Build a neural loudness and dynamics model that meets Spotify, Apple and Audible specs
  • Own listening tests and objective metrics (LUFS, true peak, speech intelligibility)
  • Ship to production on AWS batch infrastructure and keep processing cost per hour flat
  • Mentor one junior audio engineer joining next quarter

Requirements

  • Several years building ML for audio or speech signals
  • Solid DSP fundamentals: filters, dynamics, perceptual loudness
  • Comfortable owning a model from research notebook to production service
  • A good ear; you will be asked to explain why something sounds wrong

Benefits

  • Remote, UK or EU based
  • Equity in a profitable company
  • Studio headphones and monitors of your choice
  • Private health insurance
  • Four-day week every August
