Senior AI Data Contract Engineer

About the role

As a fully async team spread across seven countries, we write things down, and that habit is exactly what our customers' data pipelines lack. Velmox Data already gives ML teams feature stores, drift monitoring and freshness checks. What's missing is the agreement layer upstream: producers change a column type, rename an event or drop a field, and three models quietly degrade. You'll design and build data contracts as a first-class product feature, from schema definitions and validation in Kafka and Spark to the developer workflow that makes producers actually adopt them.

Responsibilities

  • Design the data contract specification and its validation engine across batch and streaming
  • Build enforcement hooks for Kafka topics, Spark jobs and Snowflake tables
  • Own the developer experience: CLI, CI checks and clear breaking-change reports
  • Write design docs and RFCs that the rest of the async team can review

Requirements

  • Senior data engineering background with Kafka and Spark in production
  • Experience designing schemas, versioning and compatibility rules
  • Strong written communication for an async, documentation-first team
  • Familiarity with feature stores or ML data pipelines
