Senior AI Diffusion Model Distillation Engineer

About the role

Every image our users generate costs us about four seconds of GPU time today. Cutting that to under one second would change our pricing, our margins and what we can offer on mobile. We build image generation tools for e-commerce teams producing product shots at volume. Our models are based on open diffusion architectures fine-tuned on product photography, and the quality is where we want it. Speed is not. You'll lead work on step distillation, consistency models and quantization to cut inference cost without hurting fidelity. We expect you to read recent papers, reproduce what's promising and be candid about what doesn't work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead distillation and acceleration research for our production diffusion models
  • Reproduce and adapt recent methods such as consistency and adversarial distillation
  • Set up human and automated quality evaluations for faster models
  • Partner with infrastructure engineers to ship optimized models to production

Requirements

  • Deep expertise training or fine-tuning diffusion models in PyTorch
  • Experience with model compression, distillation or quantization
  • Track record of turning research ideas into shipped systems
  • Familiarity with Hugging Face Diffusers
