Senior AI Payment Authorization Rate Scientist

About the role

Our merchants process a little over $14B a year through Ilvix Works, and for most of them a single percentage point of authorization rate is worth more than their whole marketing budget. We already have a retry engine, a routing layer and a decent pile of issuer response data in Snowflake. What we don't have is a rigorous way to explain why approvals drop for a given card BIN on a Tuesday, or to predict which soft declines are worth retrying. That's the gap this role fills. You'll design the experiments, build the models and sit in on calls with our largest merchants to explain what changed and why.

Responsibilities

  • Model issuer approval behaviour across BIN ranges, regions and transaction types
  • Design and analyze A/B tests on retry timing, routing and message formatting
  • Drive adoption of authorization-rate dashboards with account managers and merchants
  • Mentor two mid-level data scientists on causal inference and experiment design

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in payments, card networks or high-volume transaction data
  • Deep comfort with experiment design, uplift modelling and causal inference
  • Advanced SQL on Snowflake or Databricks at billion-row scale
  • Able to explain statistical findings to commercial stakeholders in plain language
