About the role

We completed our IPO eighteen months ago. We are proud of it. We are also aware that it changed almost everything about how we build and maintain our data infrastructure — and that we were not as prepared for that change as we should have been. Before the IPO, our analytics engineering team built fast and shipped often. That approach served us well until our first earnings call, when we discovered that two of our top-line metrics were calculated differently in different parts of the data warehouse, and that neither calculation was wrong exactly, but they were not the same, and an analyst noticed. That was an uncomfortable week. We have spent the fourteen months since then remediating technical debt in our reporting layer, implementing a formal metric definition process, and building the governance infrastructure that a public company\'s data team should have had earlier. We are hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the financial and operational reporting layer — the models, metrics, and pipelines that feed our internal finance dashboards, SEC filing support analysis, and investor relations data requests. The work requires someone who understands what SOX-relevant data controls actually mean in practice, and who has the discipline to build reporting infrastructure that an auditor can review without finding surprises.

Responsibilities

  • Own the financial and operational reporting layer in Snowflake: data models, metric definitions, and access controls
  • Build and maintain the data pipelines supporting quarterly earnings analysis, SEC filing support, and investor relations reporting
  • Design and implement data quality controls that satisfy internal audit requirements and can be evidenced during SOX testing
  • Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, and IR teams to ensure metric definitions are agreed, documented, and consistently applied
  • Lead the migration of remaining legacy reporting models to our current standards — there are about a dozen left

Requirements

  • 6+ years of analytics or data engineering with at least 2 years in a public company or heavily audited environment
  • SQL at an expert level — complex transformations, performance optimisation, and the discipline to write readable code that reviewers can follow
  • Snowflake for data warehousing: clustering, cost monitoring, access governance, and time travel for audit support
  • Python for orchestration, data quality testing, and analytical tooling
  • Power BI for executive and board-level reporting dashboards with controlled refresh and access patterns
  • Experience with financial data: revenue recognition concepts, ARR/NRR calculation methodologies, and segment reporting
  • Familiarity with SOX data controls: what they require, how they are tested, and how to build pipelines that satisfy them without making them unmaintainable

Benefits

  • $155,000 – $185,000 base salary + RSUs (4-year vest, 1-year cliff)
  • Hybrid — three days in our San Francisco office, two days remote
  • Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with 4% match
  • 20 days PTO plus company holidays
  • $2,500 annual professional development budget
