Senior NLP Architect

About the role

We process and analyze 2 million news articles per day across 40 languages for financial intelligence clients. Our NLP pipeline handles entity extraction, sentiment scoring, event detection, and relationship mapping — and it needs to be fast enough to beat Bloomberg alerts by 30 seconds. As a senior NLP architect, you'll own the technical direction of this pipeline. That means deciding which components use fine-tuned transformers versus LLM prompting, designing the multilingual processing strategy, and ensuring the system scales horizontally as we add new languages and source feeds. We need someone who's built NLP systems at scale and can make architectural decisions that balance accuracy, latency, and cost. You'll have a team of 4 NLP engineers to implement your designs. Responsibilities

  • Define technical architecture for large-scale multilingual NLP processing
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions for NLP components (fine-tuned models vs LLM prompting)
  • Design the multilingual processing strategy across 40 languages
  • Mentor a team of 4 NLP engineers on best practices and system design
  • Ensure pipeline performance meets latency requirements for financial clients

Requirements

  • 6+ years in NLP with large-scale production system experience
  • Deep PyTorch and Hugging Face expertise
  • Experience with multilingual NLP at scale
  • Strong system design skills for distributed text processing
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams
