About the role

Our healthcare clients want to train ML models but can't share patient data. HIPAA makes real medical datasets a compliance nightmare. The solution: synthetic data that preserves statistical properties and clinical relationships without containing any real patient information. You'll build and maintain our synthetic data generation platform. That means designing generative models for tabular medical data, validating that synthetic datasets preserve the distributions and correlations of the original data, and proving to compliance teams that no patient information leaks through. The role sits at the intersection of ML, statistics, and privacy engineering. You'll need to understand generative models, statistical testing, and differential privacy — and be able to explain your privacy guarantees to lawyers. Hybrid role with 2 days/week in our NYC office for client-facing workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Build generative models for synthetic medical tabular data
  • Validate statistical fidelity of synthetic datasets against real data properties
  • Implement and verify differential privacy guarantees
  • Present privacy validation results to client compliance and legal teams
  • Maintain and improve the synthetic data generation platform

Requirements

  • 3+ years in ML or data engineering with privacy experience
  • Strong PyTorch skills and understanding of generative models
  • Solid statistical foundation for distribution testing and validation
  • Familiarity with differential privacy concepts
  • Comfort presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
