About the role

Energy prices move fast. Grid demand fluctuates by the minute. Battery storage systems need to decide when to charge and when to discharge based on forecasts that are never quite right. Our models make those decisions for 30 utility-scale battery installations, and getting the forecast wrong costs our clients real money. You'll build and improve time series forecasting models for energy demand, solar generation, and electricity pricing. The work combines classical statistical methods (ARIMA, state space models) with deep learning approaches (temporal fusion transformers, N-BEATS) — and knowing when to use which is half the skill. We're a team of 10 engineers working on clean energy optimization. The models you build will directly impact how much renewable energy gets stored and dispatched efficiently. If you want your ML work to matter for the climate, this is one of the most direct paths.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain time series forecasting models for energy markets
  • Combine classical statistical and deep learning approaches based on use case
  • Design backtesting frameworks for forecast quality evaluation
  • Optimize models for real-time decision making in battery dispatch systems
  • Collaborate with energy domain experts on feature engineering and model interpretation

Requirements

  • 5+ years in ML with deep time series forecasting experience
  • Strong PyTorch skills and knowledge of temporal architectures
  • Solid statistical foundation (ARIMA, state space, Bayesian methods)
  • Experience with Spark for large-scale data processing
  • Interest in energy markets or sustainability

Benefits

  • Fully remote — US time zones
  • Competitive salary with annual performance bonus
  • Impact on renewable energy and climate
  • $3,000 conference and learning budget
