Hire AI Engineers and AI Developers

Why hire an AI engineer for your team?

AI engineers turn experiments into production systems. They design training pipelines, build model-backed APIs, set up evaluation loops, and maintain the technical systems that keep AI products working reliably for real users. Companies hire AI engineers when the bottleneck shifts from ideas to execution — when you need to ship, not just prototype.

What does an AI engineer actually do?

AI engineers work across the full delivery cycle: building datasets and pipelines, training and evaluating models, deploying inference APIs, and monitoring live performance. Senior AI engineers also scope problems, choose the right architecture, and define what good looks like technically. They differ from data scientists in that their focus is on production systems, not just analysis or experimentation.

AI engineer vs data scientist — which do you need?

Data scientists focus on analysis, experimentation, and modelling. AI engineers focus on building and shipping systems that run in production. If your goal is to understand your data better, start with a data scientist. If your goal is to deploy a working AI product, you need an AI engineer. Many companies need both — AI engineers to ship, data scientists to guide what to build and measure whether it worked.

What to look for when you hire an AI engineer

The clearest signal is evidence of shipping. Ask about production systems they have built, not just models they have trained. Strong candidates can describe the full path from data pipeline to deployed API, including how they handled monitoring, retraining, and failure modes. Check for hands-on experience with at least one major ML framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow), production deployment tools (Docker, Kubernetes, cloud ML platforms), and comfort working with product and data teams.

How much does it cost to hire an AI engineer?

AI engineers are in high demand. Senior engineers with production experience typically command higher rates than general software engineers, reflecting the specialised skill set. RemoteAI gives you direct access to reviewed remote AI engineers, removing agency markups and recruiter fees from the equation. You see real profiles, review real experience, and contact candidates directly. How long does it take to hire an AI engineer?

With the right platform, hiring an AI engineer can move quickly. Our team checks each profile before it appears here: a real name, a written description and a list of skills. How fast you hire then depends mostly on your own interview process.
