AI Activation Funnel Optimization Analyst

About the role

A SaaS product's activation funnel is where free trials become paying customers — or don't. Our platform tracks every step: sign-up, onboarding completion, first value moment, feature adoption milestones, and conversion to paid. The activation rate (trial to paid) is the single most important metric for our clients, and improving it by even 2 percentage points can mean millions in additional ARR. As a junior analyst, you'll dig into funnel data to find where users drop off and why. That means computing step-by-step conversion rates across user segments, identifying behavioral differences between users who activate and those who don't, testing hypotheses about what drives activation, and presenting findings that the product team can act on. The growth analytics team is four people. You'll work under a senior analyst who designs the experiments and interprets results; your job is the data preparation, computation, and visualization that supports their analysis. It's the fastest way to learn SaaS growth mechanics — you'll see exactly what separates successful products from the ones that can't convert.

Responsibilities

  • Compute step-by-step funnel conversion rates across user segments
  • Identify behavioral differences between activating and churning users
  • Build dashboards tracking activation metrics for product teams
  • Test hypotheses about activation drivers with cohort analysis
  • Prepare data for experiment design and result interpretation
  • Present findings in weekly growth team meetings

Requirements

  • 1+ year of data analysis experience with SQL and Python
  • Basic understanding of funnel analysis and conversion metrics
  • Familiarity with visualization tools: Tableau, Looker, or similar
  • Interest in SaaS products and growth analytics
  • Clear presentation skills for non-technical audiences
