About the role

Predicting crop yields months before harvest transforms how agricultural supply chains operate — commodity traders price futures, food companies plan inventory, and insurance providers assess risk. Our prediction models combine satellite imagery (vegetation indices, soil moisture, canopy health) with weather forecasts, soil data, and historical yield records to produce field-level yield estimates 3 months before harvest. The current model handles corn and soybeans in the US Midwest well (8% MAPE) but accuracy degrades for specialty crops, international regions, and years with extreme weather. You'll extend the model to new crop-region combinations, improve robustness to weather anomalies, and build the uncertainty quantification that tells clients how much to trust each prediction. The agricultural intelligence team is five engineers. You'll work alongside a remote sensing specialist who handles satellite data processing and an agronomist who validates predictions against ground-truth yield data from cooperating farms.

Fully remote.

  • 3+ years in remote sensing ML, agriculture tech, or geospatial data science
  • Experience with satellite imagery analysis and vegetation indices
  • Strong Python and PyTorch skills for model development
  • Understanding of time series forecasting and uncertainty estimation
  • Comfort working with domain experts from non-technical backgrounds

Benefits

  • Fully remote with flexible hours
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • $3,000 professional development fund
