About the role

Carbon accounting is mandatory for thousands of EU companies, but most don't have the technical infrastructure to measure their emissions accurately. Scope 1 and 2 are straightforward — measure your fuel and electricity. Scope 3 is where it gets complex — tracking emissions across your entire supply chain, from raw materials to product disposal. As a junior carbon accounting developer, you'll build the data pipelines that calculate Scope 3 emissions: ingesting supplier activity data, applying emission factors from standardized databases, handling unit conversions across measurement systems, and generating the disclosure-ready reports that companies submit to regulators. Carbon accounting combines environmental science with data engineering. You'll learn emission calculation methodologies, greenhouse gas protocol standards, and the practical challenges of measuring something that spans global supply chains. It's technical work with direct climate impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build data pipelines calculating Scope 3 supply chain emissions
  • Ingest supplier activity data and apply standardized emission factors
  • Handle unit conversions and data harmonization across measurement systems
  • Generate disclosure-ready carbon accounting reports for regulatory submission
  • Monitor calculation accuracy and validate against industry benchmarks

Requirements

  • Python and SQL proficiency for data pipeline development
  • Basic understanding of data processing and ETL concepts
  • Interest in sustainability, climate science, or environmental reporting
  • Attention to detail for regulatory-grade calculations
  • Clear documentation skills for methodology transparency
