AI Customer Renewal Risk Predictor

About the role

We sell enterprise software to Fortune 1000 companies with contract values ranging from $80K to $2M annually. Renewal rates drive our valuation multiple, and right now our CS team has 180 accounts and exactly zero systematic signal for which ones are at risk until the renewal conversation is 90 days out — which is far too late to change the outcome. You'll build the renewal risk model that gives CS teams a 12-month forward view. The inputs are product usage telemetry (active users, feature adoption, API call volume), support ticket patterns, executive sponsor engagement, and competitive signals from sales intelligence tools. The output is a risk score with the top factors driving it — specific enough that a CS manager knows exactly which conversation to have next. This is a mid-level analytics role with strong visibility. The model output feeds directly into territory planning, QBR preparation, and CS manager scorecards. You'll present to the VP of Customer Success every quarter. The role is hybrid — two days per week in our Midtown Manhattan office for team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Build a 12-month renewal risk prediction model from product usage and engagement signals
  • Engineer features from telemetry, support tickets, and executive engagement data
  • Develop a risk scoring API consumed by the CS team's Salesforce environment
  • Create explainability outputs showing the top 3 risk factors per account
  • Run model validation against historical renewal outcomes
  • Present model performance and insights to VP of Customer Success quarterly

Requirements

  • 3+ years in data science or analytics in a B2B SaaS context
  • Experience with churn or renewal prediction modeling
  • Strong Python, SQL, and scikit-learn skills
  • Ability to build and present analytical findings to executive stakeholders
  • Understanding of CS operations and account management workflows
