About the role

As a fully async team, we believe great engineers can work from anywhere, and our own internal tooling should be as good as what we build for clients — right now it isn't, when it comes to understanding pipeline dependencies. Airflow, Spark, and AWS are the core of what we build at Unvix Works. Engineers currently trace pipeline dependencies by reading DAG code line by line, which gets painful fast once a change in one pipeline needs to be checked against a dozen downstream consumers. You'll build a visualization tool that maps pipeline dependencies automatically from our Airflow metadata, making it obvious at a glance what breaks if a given pipeline changes.

Responsibilities

  • Build a dependency graph visualization tool from Airflow pipeline metadata
  • Design clear visual representations of upstream and downstream pipeline relationships
  • Integrate the tool into existing engineer workflows for pipeline changes
  • Gather feedback from the data engineering team to refine usability
  • Document the tool for onboarding new engineers

Requirements

  • Strong Airflow experience with complex DAG structures
  • Spark experience for understanding pipeline data flows
  • AWS experience for infrastructure integration
  • Comfort building internal developer tooling
  • Experience working fully async across time zones
