About the role

We're building the next generation of self-documenting data infrastructure, where pipelines explain themselves when something breaks instead of leaving on-call engineers guessing at 2am. Escalation playbooks today are written manually and go stale within weeks. You will build a system that generates and updates escalation playbooks automatically based on pipeline topology, past incidents, and ownership metadata, so on-call engineers always have current, relevant guidance. You'll join a cross-functional squad with defined sprints and a weekly sync with the platform reliability lead. The impact lands immediately in every incident channel: faster triage, fewer repeated mistakes, and playbooks that stay accurate as the data platform evolves underneath them.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated escalation playbook generation from pipeline metadata
  • Keep playbooks current as pipeline topology changes
  • Analyze past incidents to improve playbook accuracy
  • Partner with the reliability lead on rollout
  • Present playbook effectiveness metrics monthly

Requirements

  • 5+ years working with data pipelines or platform reliability
  • Experience with Airflow and Kafka
  • Comfortable working with on-call and incident processes
  • Strong Python and AWS skills
