AI Data Pipeline Monitoring Analyst

About the role

Data pipelines fail silently. A source system changes its schema, a transformation produces null values, or an ingestion job completes but processes zero records — and nobody notices until a dashboard shows blank charts three days later. Our monitoring platform catches these failures in real-time, but someone needs to investigate them. As a junior monitoring analyst, you'll be the first line of defense: reviewing pipeline health dashboards, investigating data quality alerts, classifying failures by root cause, coordinating fixes with engineering teams, and building the runbooks that make future investigations faster. Pipeline monitoring teaches you how data systems work by showing you how they break. After six months of investigating pipeline failures, you'll understand data architecture more deeply than engineers who only build pipelines — because you'll know every way they can go wrong.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor data pipeline health dashboards and investigate quality alerts
  • Classify pipeline failures by root cause — schema changes, null values, zero records
  • Coordinate fixes with engineering teams and track resolution times
  • Build investigation runbooks for common failure patterns
  • Generate weekly pipeline health reports tracking reliability trends

Requirements

  • Python and SQL proficiency for pipeline investigation
  • Basic understanding of data pipeline concepts and ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with Airflow or data orchestration tools
  • Strong analytical skills for root cause investigation
  • Interest in data engineering and reliability
