AI Data Pipeline Regression Testing Engineer

About the role

Unvix Works builds modern data pipeline infrastructure for enterprises migrating off legacy ETL tools. One of the messiest parts of any migration is regression testing: proving that the new pipeline produces identical outputs to the old one across a representative sample of historical inputs. Right now, clients do that manually. We're automating it. In this junior engineering role, you'll work alongside a senior data engineer to build the regression testing framework that compares pipeline outputs at scale. You'll develop statistical equivalence tests, build the Airflow-orchestrated testing pipeline that runs overnight regression suites, and help build the reporting layer that shows migration teams exactly which outputs diverge and why. This is a structured junior role — you'll own specific components within a well-defined technical scope, with regular code reviews and pairing sessions. A good fit for someone with some Python and SQL experience who wants to deepen their data engineering skills in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build statistical equivalence tests for data pipeline output comparison
  • Develop Airflow-orchestrated overnight regression testing suites
  • Own the reporting layer that surfaces output divergence with root cause context
  • Document test case coverage and known exclusions
  • Contribute to pipeline instrumentation for regression signal collection

Requirements

  • Basic Python and SQL skills
  • Familiarity with data pipeline concepts (ETL, DAGs, schemas)
  • Exposure to Airflow or similar orchestration tools is a plus
  • Analytical thinking and attention to data quality details
  • Data engineering coursework, internship, or self-directed project experience
