About the role

As a distributed team with no headquarters, we've built everything async — our standups, our product reviews, even our board reports. The last thing that's still manual is translating dashboard data into written narratives that explain what changed and why. That's your project. This 4-month contract role is scoped tightly: build an LLM-powered pipeline that takes structured KPI data, detects significant changes (up, down, anomalies), and produces paragraph-length narrative summaries in plain English. The summaries feed into weekly business review emails sent to 200+ enterprise stakeholders. You'll work directly with our Head of Product to define quality criteria. The goal is output that a busy executive reads and understands in under 30 seconds — not a list of statistics, but a story about what happened.

Responsibilities

  • Build the data ingestion and change detection layer for KPI summary pipelines
  • Implement LLM-based narrative generation with audience-appropriate tone
  • Design quality evaluation criteria with product and content stakeholders
  • Create the delivery pipeline to format and send narrative summaries via email
  • Iterate on prompt templates based on stakeholder feedback

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development
  • Experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
  • SQL skills for pulling KPI data from dashboards
  • Strong written communication to evaluate output quality critically
