AI Deployment Blast Radius Analyzer

About the role

Before deploying a new model version, engineers should know: if this deployment fails, what breaks? Which downstream services depend on this model's output? Which user-facing features will be affected? Which SLAs are at risk? Most teams find out the answers after the incident, not before. Our blast radius analyzer maps the dependency graph of every model deployment: which APIs call this model, which models consume its output, which user features depend on those models, and what the estimated user impact of a 100% failure would be. You'll build the dependency graph construction, the blast radius calculation, and the pre-deployment risk report that gives teams confidence about what they're about to change. The platform reliability team is six engineers. You'll be the senior engineer who defines how dependency graphs are constructed and blast radius is calculated — connecting the dots between model deployments and business impact in a way that makes technical risk legible to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build deployment dependency graph construction across model and service layers
  • Calculate blast radius: affected services, user features, and SLA exposure
  • Generate pre-deployment risk reports with business impact estimates
  • Detect circular dependencies and cascading failure risks
  • Integrate blast radius analysis into deployment approval workflows
  • Set standards for blast radius calculation methodology

Requirements

  • 6+ years in platform or reliability engineering with dependency analysis experience
  • Deep understanding of service dependencies and failure mode analysis
  • Experience with graph-based dependency modeling at scale
  • Strong Python and Kubernetes skills
  • Ability to translate technical risk into business impact terms
