AI Fabric Defect Texture Classification Engineer

Alexander Lindqvist

Full-time · Job · Chicago

About the role

We're building the next generation of automated fabric inspection tools for textile manufacturing lines. What we have today catches obvious tears and stains; what's missing is a texture classifier sensitive enough to flag subtle weave defects before they reach quality control. You'll design and train classification models on high-resolution fabric imagery, then deploy them to inspection stations on the factory floor. Reliability matters here — a missed defect means a returned shipment and an unhappy client.

Responsibilities

  • Design texture classification models for fabric defect detection
  • Train models on high-resolution inspection line imagery
  • Deploy models to on-site inspection stations
  • Tune thresholds to balance false positives and missed defects

Requirements

  • 3+ years with computer vision and tensorflow
  • Experience deploying models with docker to edge devices
  • Comfortable working on-site at a manufacturing facility

Benefits

  • On-site role with relocation support
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Manufacturing site meal allowance
  • Annual bonus
