About the role

Hedge funds spend millions on alternative data — satellite images of parking lots, credit card transaction feeds, social media sentiment — trying to predict earnings before they're announced. Our platform processes these signals and builds the predictive models that turn raw alternative data into actionable trading signals. You'll design and train the ML models that generate alpha signals from multi-modal alternative data sources. The work demands rigorous statistical methodology: walk-forward validation, out-of-sample testing, regime-aware feature engineering, and the discipline to distinguish signal from noise in financial data. We need someone who understands that most ML models fail in finance because they overfit — and who knows how to build the testing framework that catches overfitting before capital is deployed. Statistical rigor isn't optional here. It's the entire job.

Responsibilities

  • Build predictive models generating trading signals from alternative data
  • Design walk-forward validation frameworks to prevent overfitting
  • Engineer features from multi-modal data sources (satellite, transactions, sentiment)
  • Implement regime-aware modeling that adapts to market condition changes
  • Present model performance analysis to portfolio managers

Requirements

  • 5+ years in quantitative finance or ML for financial applications
  • Strong PyTorch and statistical modeling skills
  • Deep understanding of financial model validation and overfitting prevention
  • Experience with large-scale data processing using Spark
  • Rigorous statistical methodology (Bayesian, bootstrap, causal inference)
