About the role

Clinical notes are the most valuable and least structured data in healthcare. Doctors write them in shorthand, with abbreviations, typos, and domain-specific jargon that general NLP models completely misunderstand. Our platform extracts structured medical information from these notes — diagnoses, medications, procedures, allergies — and feeds it into clinical decision support systems. You'll lead the NLP pipeline: fine-tuning medical language models on de-identified clinical corpora, building entity extraction systems for medical concepts, and designing RAG pipelines that cross-reference extracted information against clinical knowledge bases. We serve 25 hospital systems and process 100,000 clinical notes daily. Accuracy matters in ways that most NLP applications don't face — a misidentified allergy or missed medication can affect patient care. Responsibilities

  • Fine-tune medical language models on de-identified clinical text corpora
  • Build entity extraction systems for diagnoses, medications, and procedures
  • Design RAG pipelines cross-referencing clinical notes with medical knowledge bases
  • Implement quality assurance frameworks for clinical NLP accuracy
  • Collaborate with clinical informatics teams on model validation

Requirements

  • 5+ years in NLP with healthcare or biomedical text experience
  • Strong PyTorch and Hugging Face fine-tuning skills
  • Experience with medical NLP concepts (NER, relation extraction, negation detection)
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED)
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements for handling clinical data
