AI Lab Notebook Digitization Engineer

James Yamamoto

Full-time · Job · New_York

About the role

We're building the infrastructure that turns decades of handwritten lab notebooks into structured, searchable data for drug discovery teams. Fast-moving team, no bureaucracy — we need someone who can take raw scanned pages and turn them into clean, queryable experiment records. You'll design the pipeline that classifies reagents, timestamps, and results from scanned pages, and you'll ship fixes the same week they're found. The output of your work feeds directly into models that predict which compounds move to the next trial phase, so accuracy is not optional.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the notebook-to-database digitization pipeline
  • Design validation rules that catch inconsistent reagent naming
  • Partner with lab scientists to confirm digitized records match originals

Requirements

  • 3+ years building data pipelines in Python
  • Experience with computer vision or document parsing
  • Comfortable working directly with domain experts

Benefits

  • Fully remote position
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Equity in an early-stage biotech AI company
