AI Legal Expert Witness Sourcing Engineer

About the role

Litigation teams spend weeks manually searching directories, prior case filings and academic publications to find qualified expert witnesses, and half the candidates they shortlist turn out to be conflicted or unavailable. We're building the retrieval system that scores expert candidates against case requirements, prior testimony history and potential conflicts automatically. You'll design the ranking pipeline that pulls from public filings, publication databases and internal case history to surface vetted candidates within minutes instead of weeks. You'll work inside a small legal-tech pod of four engineers and two former litigation paralegals who validate every ranked list before it reaches an attorney.

Responsibilities

  • Design retrieval pipelines that rank expert witness candidates by case fit
  • Build conflict-of-interest screening into the ranking logic
  • Work with paralegals to validate candidate scoring accuracy
  • Maintain data pipelines pulling from public filing databases

Requirements

  • 3+ years building retrieval or ranking systems in production
  • Experience with RAG pipelines and vector search
  • Comfort working with messy, unstructured legal documents
  • Python proficiency required
