AI Onboarding Automation Specialist

Sophia Ferreira

Contract · Job · Chicago

About the role

Airflow, SQL, and a growing library of internal ETL jobs are the core of what our retail forecasting platform runs on. What we're missing is someone dedicated to automating the manual onboarding steps that new retail clients go through before their data even reaches our forecasting models. You'll take over that gap: building lightweight ETL jobs and Airflow tasks that turn a multi-day manual onboarding checklist into something that mostly runs itself. Reliability and auditability matter here, since every client dataset needs to be traceable. This is a contract role with a clear scope and a defined end date.

Responsibilities

  • Build ETL jobs to automate manual steps in client data onboarding
  • Write and schedule Airflow tasks for recurring onboarding checks
  • Query and validate incoming datasets using SQL
  • Document each automated step for audit purposes
  • Flag data quality issues before they reach the forecasting pipeline

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience with Python and SQL in a data context
  • Some exposure to Airflow or similar orchestration tools
  • Understanding of basic ETL concepts
  • Careful, detail-oriented approach to documentation
  • Available for a defined-scope contract engagement

Benefits

  • Fully remote contract
  • Flexible hours
  • Clear, well-scoped deliverables
  • Direct mentorship from the data engineering lead
  • Potential for future contract renewal
