AI Patent Portfolio Valuation Analyst

About the role

We serve over 150 law firms and corporate IP departments who need defensible patent portfolio valuations for licensing negotiations, litigation, and M&A due diligence. The person in this role builds the model core of that valuation. You will design a scoring model that estimates patent portfolio value using citation network position, claim breadth, litigation history, and comparable licensing deal data, producing valuations our clients can defend under cross-examination. This is a freelance engagement with flexible scope, well suited to someone who has done quantitative IP valuation work before and wants project-based flexibility rather than a full-time commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Design a patent portfolio valuation model combining citation, claim, and licensing signals
  • Validate valuations against known comparable licensing and litigation outcomes
  • Produce documentation clients can use to defend valuations under scrutiny
  • Advise on methodology improvements as new comparable deal data becomes available
  • Support select client calls explaining valuation methodology

Requirements

  • Prior experience in quantitative IP or patent valuation work
  • Strong Python, SQL, and statistics background
  • Comfortable producing client-facing documentation
  • Available for a flexible, project-based engagement
