About the role

We're building an AI-native underwriting platform for specialty insurance lines. Our clients have already told us that premium leakage — the gap between actuarially correct pricing and what gets quoted in the field — is costing them 3–7% of written premium. That number is unacceptable to them and an opportunity for us. The AI Premium Leakage Detection Analyst role is about building models that identify where in the quoting process pricing diverges from risk-adjusted expectation. You'll analyze underwriting decisions, loss histories, and policyholder attribute profiles to build a detection layer that flags anomalies before policies bind. You'll work with our actuarial science team (3 credentialed actuaries), our ML infrastructure engineers, and report to the Head of AI Products. The work directly ties to revenue — identified leakage that we help close is measurable in dollars.

Responsibilities

  • Build predictive models that detect premium leakage patterns across policy lines
  • Partner with actuaries to align ML signal to pricing models they trust
  • Create monitoring dashboards that surface leakage flagging in near real-time
  • Design and run retrospective analyses on historical books of business
  • Own model validation, including backtesting against prior loss developments

Requirements

  • 5+ years in insurance analytics, pricing models, or actuarial-adjacent data science
  • Strong statistics and regression modeling skills; ML ensemble methods a plus
  • SQL and Python proficiency; Snowflake experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical underwriting leadership
