About the role

Fast-moving team. Big problem. Fans and leagues alike want to know if officiating calls are statistically consistent, and we don't yet have a model that flags questionable patterns across seasons. We need a freelance analyst who can dig into years of play-by-play data, build the detection model, and hand off a clear methodology doc. This is a focused engagement, not an open-ended research project, so we need someone who ships a working analysis without months of exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Build a statistical model flagging inconsistent officiating patterns
  • Deliver a clear, reproducible methodology document
  • Validate findings against historical game data

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience with statistical analysis in Python
  • Comfortable working independently on a fixed-scope engagement
  • Sports data experience is a plus, not required
