AI Renewable Energy Generation Forecaster

About the role

Our climate tech team works async across 6 continents, and we believe the best energy modelers aren't necessarily in the same city as our servers. If you've got curiosity about energy systems and solid Python skills, we'll teach you what we know about grid forecasting. Zelux is expanding its sustainability platform to include renewable energy output forecasting for solar and wind installations. Our clients are energy buyers — corporations trying to match consumption to clean generation. Accurate forecasts directly determine how much renewable energy they can commit to without relying on fossil backup. This is a growth role: you'll start by supporting our two senior forecasting engineers, contribute to model evaluation, and own smaller forecast tasks within your first quarter. By month 6, you'll be leading the wind forecasting workstream independently.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of solar and wind generation forecast models using weather and historical generation data
  • Run model evaluation pipelines and produce accuracy reports for client-facing output
  • Assist in feature engineering from meteorological data feeds
  • Maintain Airflow DAGs that schedule and monitor forecast runs
  • Document model assumptions and produce technical summaries for non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of data science or ML engineering experience
  • Python proficiency with scikit-learn or PyTorch
  • Basic statistics and time-series fundamentals
  • Curiosity about energy systems — no domain expertise required
  • Comfort working in a fully async, documentation-driven team
