AI Research Dataset Licensing Compliance Analyst

Julian Johansson

Part-time · Job · Berlin

About the role

We don't care where you work from or how many hours a week you can give us — we care about whether the datasets our researchers cite are actually cleared for reuse. This part-time role tracks licensing terms across the academic and public datasets referenced in our research pipeline, flags anything that's expired or ambiguous, and keeps a living registry the whole research team can trust. It's a well-defined, async-friendly role that fits around a school schedule or other part-time work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a registry of dataset licensing terms and expiration dates
  • Flag ambiguous or expired licenses before publication deadlines
  • Partner with researchers to source compliant alternative datasets
  • Build lightweight SQL reports summarizing registry status

Requirements

  • Familiarity with basic Python and SQL for data tracking
  • Attention to detail with licensing or legal-adjacent documentation
  • Available roughly 20 hours per week
  • Interest in research operations or data governance

Benefits

  • Fully remote, flexible part-time hours
  • Hourly compensation, paid biweekly
  • Exposure to academic research operations
  • Path to full-time as the registry scope grows
