About the role

You'll be the fourth data engineer on a scouting analytics team of eleven, working directly with former pro scouts who know exactly what they want and don't have patience for slow tooling. That combination makes this a fast-feedback, high-clarity environment to build in. Our scouts currently spend hours manually assembling player comparison packets before every draft cycle. You'll build the pipeline that automates report generation, pulling performance data, injury history, and comparable player profiles into a single document a scout can review in minutes instead of hours. Expect close daily collaboration with the scouting team: they'll tell you what's wrong with a report within the hour, and you'll ship the fix the same week.

Responsibilities

  • Build automated scouting report pipelines from raw performance data
  • Own the SQL data models feeding player comparison logic
  • Build Tableau views scouts use during live draft meetings
  • Iterate weekly based on direct scout feedback

Requirements

  • 3+ years building data pipelines with SQL and Python
  • Experience with pandas for data transformation at scale
  • Comfortable working directly with non-technical domain experts
  • Tableau or similar BI tool experience
