About the role

Meeting transcription is solved — except when four people are talking. Speaker diarization (who spoke when) remains one of the hardest problems in speech processing, especially in real-world conditions: overlapping speech, varying microphone distances, speakers who sound similar, and conference room acoustics that blur individual voices. You'll push our diarization accuracy from 85% to 95%: building speaker embedding models that distinguish voices in noisy environments, designing overlap detection that correctly attributes simultaneous speech, and developing online diarization that assigns speakers in real-time without waiting for the full recording. Our system processes 200,000 meeting hours per month. Every diarization error means a quote attributed to the wrong person in the transcript — which matters enormously when transcripts are used for legal compliance, medical consultations, or executive decision records.

Responsibilities

  • Improve speaker diarization accuracy from 85% to 95% in real-world conditions
  • Build speaker embedding models robust to noise and varying acoustic environments
  • Design overlap detection for accurate simultaneous speech attribution
  • Develop online diarization assigning speakers in real-time streams
  • Scale diarization infrastructure for 200,000 monthly meeting hours

Requirements

  • 5+ years in speech processing with speaker recognition experience
  • Strong PyTorch skills for speaker embedding and clustering models
  • Experience with diarization in challenging acoustic conditions
  • Understanding of audio signal processing and feature extraction
  • Track record improving speech processing metrics in production
