AI Trade Finance Risk Analyst

About the role

Our clients include mid-market banks and trade finance platforms across Europe and the Gulf region. At Gradrix Works, we build risk models that assess the creditworthiness of trade transactions — letters of credit, invoice financing, supply chain lending. The person in this role will own the ML layer that sits between raw transaction data and underwriting decisions. You'll build classification models for trade document fraud, develop scoring systems for counterparty risk, and work with our data engineering team to ensure the features feeding your models are clean and timely. You'll also participate in model reviews with our risk committee, where you'll need to explain model behavior in terms a senior underwriter can audit. Gradrix operates across 12 markets with different regulatory environments, so model fairness and explainability are non-negotiable. This role is senior-leaning for a mid-level salary because we move fast, give real ownership, and have a strong track record of promoting from within.

Responsibilities

  • Build ML models for trade document fraud detection and counterparty risk scoring
  • Own feature engineering for trade transaction datasets
  • Present model outputs to risk committees with clear interpretability narratives
  • Monitor deployed models for data drift and performance degradation
  • Collaborate with compliance to ensure model documentation meets regulatory standards

Requirements

  • 3+ years in credit risk, fraud detection, or financial ML
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with explainability tools (SHAP, LIME)
  • Familiarity with trade finance concepts is a plus
  • Strong written communication for risk documentation
