AI Video Hook Retention Analyst

About the role

Most short-form videos lose half their viewers in the first three seconds, and our clients want to know why. We run creative production for consumer brands posting dozens of short videos a week. We have retention curves for thousands of them, plus transcripts and scene tags generated by our tooling. Nobody has properly connected the two. As a freelancer, you'll analyze which opening hooks hold attention, build a model that scores new hooks before they're filmed, and present clear recommendations to our creative team. Deliverables matter more than hours here.

Responsibilities

  • Join retention data with transcripts and visual tags across our video library
  • Identify hook patterns that predict three-second and fifteen-second retention
  • Build a lightweight scoring tool creatives can use on draft scripts
  • Present findings in a Tableau dashboard and a short written brief

Requirements

  • Experience analyzing content or marketing performance data
  • Comfortable with pandas and basic statistical modelling
  • Has used LLM APIs to classify or tag text at scale
  • Portfolio showing clear, practical data storytelling
