AI Warehouse Barcode Damage Detection Engineer

Olivia Wang

Full-time · Job · Detroit

About the role

Our mission is to make sure a damaged barcode never causes a shipment to get lost inside a warehouse again. Computer vision and TensorFlow are the core of what we build, running against camera feeds mounted above conveyor lines that move thousands of packages an hour. This role means training detection models that flag damaged or unreadable labels before a package reaches the sorting point, working on-site with the warehouse operations team to validate results against real conveyor footage. It's an interesting problem because damage patterns vary wildly by carrier and packaging type, and getting it wrong either floods operators with false alerts or lets real problems slip through.

Responsibilities

  • Train computer vision models to detect damaged or unreadable barcodes
  • Validate detection models against live conveyor camera footage
  • Work on-site with warehouse operations to tune alert thresholds
  • Publish internal findings on damage pattern variation by carrier

Requirements

  • 3+ years training computer vision models with TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Comfortable working on-site around industrial warehouse equipment
  • Experience with real-time video pipelines a plus

Benefits

  • On-site access to a fully instrumented warehouse test line
  • Relocation assistance for the primary facility
  • Annual bonus tied to sorting accuracy improvements
