Computer Vision Engineer

About the role

You'll be the third ML engineer on a team of 14, working directly with our CTO on a real-time visual inspection system used in manufacturing plants across North America. Our cameras capture 12,000 images per hour per facility, and our models need to flag defects in under 200ms. We've already shipped a v1 that handles basic defect detection. What we need now is someone who can take our accuracy from 94% to 99%+ on edge cases — scratches on reflective surfaces, micro-cracks under variable lighting, foreign particle detection on transparent substrates. The hard problems. Our stack is PyTorch for training, TensorFlow Lite for edge deployment, and AWS for everything in between. You'll have access to massive labeled datasets and direct feedback loops from quality engineers on the factory floor.

Responsibilities

  • Design and train high-accuracy object detection and segmentation models
  • Optimize model inference for sub-200ms latency on edge devices
  • Build data pipelines to ingest and label factory floor imagery
  • Partner with product to define detection thresholds per client
  • Own the model evaluation and regression testing framework

Requirements

  • 5+ years in computer vision with production deployments
  • Strong PyTorch skills and experience with model quantization
  • Experience with real-time inference constraints
  • Familiarity with AWS (S3, SageMaker, Lambda)
  • Bonus: experience in manufacturing or industrial inspection
