About the role

I\'ll be honest with you — I\'m the Head of People here and I wrote this job description myself because the last two I had a recruiter write didn\'t quite capture what we actually need, and the candidates we got were not quite right. So here we are. We are a mid-sized professional services firm, about 1,400 people across five offices, and for the first time in our history we have a data infrastructure that would actually let someone do interesting analysis on our workforce — attrition patterns, hiring funnel efficiency, performance review consistency, engagement survey trends. The problem is nobody in our People team knows how to do it. I have a junior analyst who can do pivot tables and a senior HRBP who thinks PowerPoint is a data strategy. I need someone who can sit with that data, figure out what the interesting questions are, and produce analysis that is actually useful for the decisions we make. The person I\'m looking for is probably someone who has done analytics work in an operational environment before and has the people skills to communicate with HR professionals who are not technical. You don\'t need to be excited about HR specifically. You need to be good at analysis and patient enough to explain what you found to people who will ask a lot of questions. Responsibilities

Analyse attrition patterns, hiring funnel performance, and engagement survey trends across the organisation
Build dashboards in Tableau that HR Business Partners can use without needing to ask you what they mean
Work with the People team to define the right analytical questions before building anything
Support the annual talent review process with data on performance distributions and succession pipeline health
Document your methodology clearly enough that I can explain it to the CHRO without misrepresenting it

Requirements

3+ years of data science or analytics in an applied role — HR experience is welcome but not required
Python for data wrangling, analysis, and building reproducible reporting pipelines
SQL for extracting and joining workforce, HRIS, and engagement data from our data warehouse
Tableau or Power BI for building dashboards that non-technical stakeholders can navigate and trust
Statistics you can explain out loud: confidence intervals, regression, survey analysis — the kind you\'d use to answer a question, not pass an exam
Patience and communication skills — the audience for your work will include people who are very smart in ways that have nothing to do with data
