About the role

Our fintech is rebuilding our credit risk scoring model and we need a freelance data scientist to lead the modelling work. You'll own the feature engineering, model selection, validation, and documentation. Our data team will support with data access and infrastructure — this role is purely modelling. Project scope: audit current model → propose improved approach → build and validate → hand off to internal team with full documentation. We're looking for someone who has built credit or risk models before, ideally in a regulated environment.

Fully remote.

Requirements

Technical stack needed for this mission.

  • – Solid credit risk or financial ML modelling experience
  • – Python, Pandas, Scikit-learn proficiency
  • – Familiar with model validation (AUC, Gini, KS stats)
  • – Experience writing model documentation for compliance
  • – Available to start within 2 weeks
