Junior AI Image Annotation Tooling Developer

About the role

You'd be joining a lab of 14 researchers and engineers in Oakland who build 3D perception models, and you'd be the first person whose full-time job is the tooling around our data. Right now annotators label point clouds and stereo pairs in three different tools that don't talk to each other. We want one internal app that handles labelling, review and export, with model-assisted pre-labels to speed things up. It's an entry-level role with a lot of room: you'll ship real tools quickly and learn perception research by osmosis.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain internal annotation tools using Python and Flask
  • Wire model-assisted pre-labelling into the annotation workflow
  • Create export scripts that turn reviewed labels into training-ready datasets
  • Sit with annotators weekly to spot friction and fix it

Requirements

  • Basic web development skills with Python (Flask or similar)
  • Some familiarity with images, 3D data or computer vision concepts
  • Comfortable with SQL for simple data storage and queries
  • Able to work on-site in Oakland five days a week
