About the role

API documentation that shows static code snippets has a conversion problem: developers read it, feel uncertain, and leave without making their first API call. Interactive documentation changes this — when developers can modify a code example and see a live response without leaving the docs page, time-to-first-call drops by 60% in our own experiments. We build the developer portal platform used by 130 API companies, and interactive tutorials are the next feature on the roadmap. As a junior engineer on the developer experience team, you'll help build the tutorial authoring and execution system: the editor that technical writers use to create interactive tutorials, the sandboxed execution environment that runs learner code safely, and the progress tracking that shows developers what they've completed. Senior engineers define the architecture and security model; you'll implement the tutorial content components, the progress state management, and the data pipelines that track tutorial completion rates and help technical writers understand where developers get stuck. This is an entry-level role with real feature ownership and daily code shipped to production.

Fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Build tutorial content authoring components used by technical writers
  • Implement sandboxed code execution for learner API calls within tutorials
  • Create progress tracking persisting tutorial completion state across sessions
  • Build analytics pipelines tracking step completion rates and drop-off points
  • Develop the tutorial discovery interface helping developers find relevant content
  • Write tests for tutorial rendering and execution edge cases

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python development experience
  • Basic familiarity with REST APIs and web development concepts
  • Interest in developer experience, documentation, or education products
  • Attention to detail in data accuracy for analytics outputs
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with technical writers
