Junior AI Merchant Onboarding Risk Analyst

About the role

New merchants get onboarded to our payments platform every day, and some of them turn out to be fronts for money laundering months later — by then the damage is done. Scikit-learn and a growing set of onboarding signals are what we build our risk screening models on. In this junior role you'll help validate onboarding risk scores against real merchant applications, flagging cases where the model seems to miss red flags a human reviewer would catch, and support senior data scientists in retraining against those cases. It's meaningful work — the models you help validate are often the only thing standing between a bad actor and a live payment account.

Responsibilities

  • Validate merchant onboarding risk scores against real applications
  • Flag missed red flags for senior analyst review
  • Support feature engineering work using scikit-learn pipelines
  • Document edge cases that inform model retraining priorities

Requirements

  • Basic Python and SQL skills, comfort with statistics fundamentals
  • Interest in fraud prevention or merchant risk modeling
  • Attention to detail when reviewing individual model decisions
