Junior AI Process Exception Pattern Analyst

About the role

Process automation platforms generate exception logs: the cases where the automated workflow couldn't complete and a human had to intervene. Those logs are gold — they tell you exactly where automations are failing and why. Most clients never analyze them systematically, which means they keep manually handling the same exception categories week after week instead of fixing the underlying process. This is a 6-month contract to build the exception pattern analysis capability for our process automation platform. You'll build the ETL pipelines that aggregate exception logs from across our client workflows, implement clustering logic that groups similar exceptions into actionable categories, and create the reports that process engineers use to prioritize which exception types to address in the next automation improvement cycle. Senior engineers will guide the analytical approach. Your job is to build reliable data infrastructure and clear output — the kind of analysis that makes a process owner say 'I didn't realize this exception was happening 400 times a week.' Responsibilities

  • Build ETL pipelines aggregating exception logs from client workflow automation systems
  • Implement clustering logic grouping similar exception events into addressable categories

  • Build trend analysis tracking exception volume changes after process improvements
  • Develop exception severity scoring prioritizing patterns by business impact
  • Document analysis methodology and data source definitions for client teams

Requirements

  • 1+ year of Python and SQL development experience
  • Basic familiarity with data aggregation and log analysis
  • Interest in process automation or business operations analytics
  • Attention to detail in data classification and pattern identification
  • Reliable async communication for a contract engagement
