Junior AI Rooftop Solar Detection Analyst

Aaron Eriksson

Full-time · Job · Berlin

About the role

Utility companies need to know how much rooftop solar capacity exists in a given region before they can plan grid upgrades, and counting panels manually from aerial imagery does not scale past a few zip codes. We believe AI should work for everyone, not just big tech, and our satellite monitoring tools are used by regional utilities and nonprofits who can't afford commercial-grade alternatives. In this junior role you'll help retrain object detection models on newly labeled rooftop imagery, working alongside senior computer vision engineers who will show you how classification errors get traced back to specific training data gaps.

Responsibilities

  • Support retraining of rooftop solar detection models with TensorFlow
  • Help label and validate new aerial imagery training data
  • Analyze misclassifications to identify training data gaps
  • Assist senior engineers in preparing model evaluation reports

Requirements

  • Basic Python and computer vision fundamentals
  • Interest in energy or environmental applications
  • Willingness to learn satellite imagery analysis techniques on the job

Benefits

  • Fully remote across European time zones
  • Mentorship from senior computer vision engineers
  • Work directly supporting regional utility and nonprofit partners
