Junior AI Service Ownership Mapping Analyst

Chase Pham

Full-time · Job · Chicago

About the role

Our runbook automation and incident response tooling is strong, but every reorg leaves a trail of services nobody is quite sure who owns anymore, which slows down every incident where it matters most. You will build tooling that infers current service ownership from commit history, on-call schedules, and deployment logs, keeping our ownership map accurate without teams manually updating a wiki nobody trusts. You'll work under our incident response automation lead, learning how our broader on-call and alerting systems function while contributing a tool the whole engineering org will actually use.

Responsibilities

  • Build tooling inferring current service ownership from commit and deployment data
  • Keep the ownership map synced automatically as team structures change
  • Support the incident response team by surfacing ownership gaps proactively
  • Maintain ETL jobs pulling data from source control and on-call systems
  • Document ownership inference logic for engineering leadership review

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of Python and SQL experience
  • Basic familiarity with ETL or data pipeline concepts
  • Curious, detail-oriented approach to organizational data problems
  • Comfortable pairing with senior engineers on a widely used internal tool

Benefits

  • Fully remote position
  • Structured mentorship program
  • Health insurance
  • High visibility across the entire engineering org
